Summary: Magnesium is not found free in nature. Magnesium will ignite upon heating in air and will burn with a brilliant white flame. Magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH) 2 , (Milk of Magnesia) and magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts) are used in medicine.
